THE QUEEN CITY'S ONLY
VIRTUAL SHOE FITTING
BRINGING THE ULTRA RUNNING COMPANY TO YOU
Can't make it to Providence Road for the country's best shoe fitting? We're bummed, but you're not out of luck. We look at some very specific items that help us narrow down the best shoe for you, and we've brought our expertise to the internet.
We look at the type of surface you run on. We look at the amount of cushion you prefer under your feet. And we look at how that cushion is distributed under your feet, focusing on the heel-to-toe offset to deliver the perfect ride for your stride. All to find the ideal match for your individualized experience.
Concerned those sound like really confusing issues? We get it. We felt the same way when we started running. But this is not rocket science, and we don't think you need a PhD to find the right shoes for you. We just think you need to take a few steps in the right direction, and we're right here with you.
LET'S DO IT!
And Now, A Word On STABILITY
No running term is more widely used or more misunderstood than "Stability". Customers visit the Ultra Running Company almost daily asking about these concepts, telling us they've been recommended shoes designed to address inefficiencies in this area, or with advice from friends to find
There is exactly ZERO scientific evidence that "Stability" or "Guidance" features in your shoes solve running issues or prevent future injuries. Your exceptionally High or Low Arch will not impact our recommendations to you. We understand people may have told you this was important in the past, but we follow science, & the facts simply do not support these outdated claims.
We know. Those claims we made fly in the face of everything you've ever heard. And seen. High tech machines that scan your foot & provide a 3D image (with custom recommendations for the correct orthodic inserts immediately following); treadmills with high-tech applications showing the odd angle of your ankle when you run; even cool ads teasing shoes designed to specifically match the contours of your foot.
All of these sound awesome & exciting.
All of these are things running stores do.
None of these help you become a better runner, a stronger runner, or avoid injury.
BUT DON'T TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT,
The American College of Sports Medicine is the outreach arm of the American Medical Association, and they have, for the first time, put out a guide for choosing running shoes.
What does help? Details about your wide or narrow feet, your bunions & whether it hurts when you do stuff. When you're in the store, we will be offering you a chance to utilize our treadmill for a comprehensive Gait Analysis that helps us optimize your shoe choices. Since you're online, we've also created a number of YouTube videos with our honest thoughts on as many shoes in our inventory as possible: you deserve our respect & honesty when it comes to fitting you with the best running, walking and fitness shoes in the world, and we'll take every step possible to provide them to you.
